Acrisure opens Bermuda office, appoints Paul Scope as CEO

Global insurance broker Acrisure has expanded its operations with the opening of a new office in Hamilton, Bermuda, focusing on wholesale insurance broking for its global clients.

This new capability, trading as Acrisure Bermuda Limited under the Acrisure brand, complements the company’s existing reinsurance and specialist managing general agent (MGA) facilities.

Acrisure has appointed Paul Scope as the CEO of this new entity, reporting to Jason Howard, President of Acrisure International and Chairman of Acrisure Re.

Scope and his team will be responsible for helping clients and markets understand the diverse solutions and services Acrisure provides both globally and in Bermuda.

The new wholesale broking team will initially focus on Professional Liability, including Directors and Officers, Errors & Omissions, Employment Practices Liability, Cyber, and Wage and Hour, followed by Property and Casualty.

Howard stated, “There has been a growing US and international appetite to access Bermuda’s wholesale market and, as a result, we are pleased to be opening this office. We are fortunate to have a leader of Paul’s expertise, experience and industry connections. I look forward to working with him to further establish and expand our position on the island and in the wider wholesale market.”

Scope brings over 40 years of industry experience, most recently serving as chairman of Ardonagh Specialty (Bermuda) Ltd since 2021. Prior to that, he spent six years as chairman of Willis Towers Watson Bermuda. In 1989, he founded Park International, which was acquired by JLT in 2007 and became JLTPark, where he served as chairman and CEO until 2014.

Commenting on his new role, Scope said, “Acrisure places $4 billion of premium into the wholesale market annually and I am pleased to be a part of this rapidly growing business. There are a multitude of wholesale opportunities on the island which Acrisure is well positioned to access.
