International law firm Mayer Brown has announced the addition of George Belcher as partner in its Corporate & Securities practice and Global Insurance Industry Group in London.
Belcher specialises in insurance-related mergers and acquisitions, as well as regulatory issues in the insurance industry.
His practice encompasses both life and annuity insurance, as well as non-life insurance. Additionally, he provides advice on matters pertaining to Lloyd’s of London.
Belcher is joining Mayer Brown from Skadden, and has previously worked at other leading international and insurance-focused firms.
Colin Scagell, London-based partner in Mayer Brown’s Global Insurance Industry Group, said: “George’s experience strongly complements our existing practice and further enhances the advice we can offer to clients on a wide range of corporate (re) insurance structures in both the life and non-life sectors.”
David Alberts, co-leader of the Global Insurance Industry Group, added: “George is a great addition to our corporate practice and our market-leading insurance team. It is very pleasing to observe the continued growth of our team in London.”
Belcher’s appointment follows that of Tom MacAulay, who joined as a partner in the Corporate & Securities practice and Global Insurance Industry Group in London in September.
