LM Re appoints Cara Sweeney as Specialty Casualty Underwriting Manager

Liberty Mutual Reinsurance (LM Re), the reinsurance arm of Liberty Mutual, has appointed Cara Sweeney as Specialty Casualty Underwriting Manager, based in Stamford.
In her new role, Sweeney’s responsibilities includes oversight of the underwriting strategy and performance of LM Re’s US Specialty Casualty portfolio. She will report to Chantal Rodriguez, Chief Underwriting Officer at LM Re.
Additionally, Sweeney will continue to develop risk assessments for complex financial institutions requiring D&O and E&O insurance, including those in private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, banking, and insurance sectors.
Sweeney brings more than 16 years of extensive insurance experience to the role, and her expertise is expected to complement the existing team’s strong reinsurance knowledge.
Most recently, she served as Vice President at Vantage Risk, where she was part of an underwriting team responsible for the US Financial Lines business.
Rodriguez commented on the appointment, “We are confident that Cara’s broad experience and industry expertise will be an excellent addition to LM Re’s offering in the Specialty Casualty segment.
“Her strong market relationships will help further strengthen our operations both in the US and globally.”
