Grayston to serve as Ascot’s Group Treasurer & CIO, Thompson to be Group Chief Accounting Officer

Ascot, the Bermuda-domiciled global specialty insurer, has announced the promotion of two senior leaders: Michael Grayston as Group Treasurer and Chief Investment Officer (CIO), and Sarah Thompson as Group Chief Accounting Officer.

In his newly expanded role, Grayston will implement and oversee the group investment strategy and the group treasury functions, including managing  Ascot’s bank relationships, external debt, credit facilities, and Group liquidity management.

Grayston is an industry expert with over three decades of experience across the insurance and asset management sectors.

He held the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, before joining Ascot in 2018 as Group Treasurer, Grayston held senior investment and treasury roles at Ironshore Inc., HSBC Global Asset Management, the ACE Group and the XL Group.

As Group Chief Accounting Officer, Thompson will be responsible for group financial reporting and accounting policy, as well as the financial aspects of strategic corporate initiatives, including acquisitions and other transactions.

With over 20 years of accounting experience in Bermuda’s insurance and financial service sectors, Thompson joined Ascot in 2018 as a Group Technical Accounting Officer.

Prior to this, she served as a Corporate Controller at Ironshore Inc. and as Technical Accounting Director at Alterra Capital Holdings Ltd.
