Ageas Re appoints Shahrokh Shahpoori Monfared as Lead Underwriter Engineering

Ageas Re, the reinsurance division of international insurance group Ageas, has appointed Shahrokh Shahpoori Monfared as Lead Underwriter Engineering, effective May 1st, 2025.

Monfared brings extensive experience in underwriting a full spectrum of global engineering risks, with a focus on Europe, US Construction, Middle East & South, and East Asia markets.

He joins Ageas Re from SCOR, where he spent nearly five years, most recently as Treaty Underwriting Manager for Engineering. In this role, he was responsible for global and regional Engineering clients across the UK, Switzerland, CEE, and MEA, including underwriting, claims, and portfolio management.

Prior to that, Monfared was Lead Underwriter for Engineering at AXIS Capital, where he managed the Engineering book as part of Specialty Re within its Global Markets unit, overseeing the global line of business and underwriting Engineering treaties. He also worked as an Underwriter for Construction at Infrassure Ltd, where he covered all aspects of Construction Risks underwriting.
