Markel appoints Ng Yao Hua as Cyber Security Analyst in Singapore

Markel, the insurance operation within Markel Group Inc., has appointed Ng Yao Hua as Cyber Security Analyst, further strengthening its investment in cyber security underwriting in the Asia Pacific market.

Markel explained that Ng will support its cyber underwriting capability in the region by “leaning on his significant technology experience” to enhance the risk assessment process, while also actively supporting brokers and policyholders in developing their knowledge of the cyber security domain.

“Ng’s appointment further solidifies Markel’s commitment to assembling a team of top-tier talent in the region and follows recent cyber underwriting hires Pooja Kumari and Isaac Meek, in Dubai and Mumbai respectively,” the firm added.

Ng will report to Simon Moi, Head of Professional and Financial Risks, Asia, based in Singapore.

Ng joins Markel from the public sector where he was a senior cyber security specialist providing consultancy and advisory services.

His expertise reportedly includes threat risk assessment, network architecture review, compliance review, and security framework development.
