Amynta Group completes acquisition of MGU Sutton Special Risk

Insurance services provider, Amynta Group, has completed the acquisition of Toronto-based Sutton Special Risk Inc., a managing general underwriter (MGU) of specialty insurance and reinsurance products.

The transaction accelerates Amynta’s growth plans in the Canadian marketplace, and expands its offerings across the accident and health market.

Amynta had previously announced its acquisition plans back in December 2023, when the firm revealed it had entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Sutton.

Founded in 1978, the MGU is a provider of a broad range of accident and health coverages, including personal accident, disability, critical illness, and specialty coverages focused on professional sports and entertainment.

In addition, Sutton had managed premiums of CAN $65 million for the 12 months ended September 30, 2023.

Amynta also confirmed that Greg Sutton will continue to lead the MGU as President & CEO of Sutton.
