Lloyd’s hires AXA XL’s Abbassi-Antoine as new General Representative for France

Lloyd’s has appointed Malik Abbassi-Antoine as its General Representative for France and Monaco, and as its Country Manager for France, Luxembourg and Monaco, following the retirement of Guy-Antoine de La Rochefoucauld.

Abbassi-Antoine has also been appointed Western Europe Regional Manager, one of 4 sub-regions of Lloyd’s Europe, which includes France, Monaco, Luxembourg, Belgium, Netherlands, and Ireland.

All of the above roles take effect from 1 April 2024.

Abbassi-Antoine first joined AXA in 2007 as legal council, where he provided legal assistance to the firm’s Finance Department.

In 2010, he was named senior legal council, a role which included providing legal assistance (drafting of legal documentation, coordination of external lawyers, negotiation) to the AXA Group Corporate Finance team on acquisitions, disposals and cross-border commercial agreements.

As senior legal council, Abbassi-Antoine also provided legal assistance (drafting of legal documentation, coordination of external lawyers, negotiation) to the AXA Group Treasury team on banking and capital markets matters.

In 2013, he left AXA, serving a small tenure at ACE Group as Head of Legal and Compliance. In 2014, he again joined AXA, this time in its Asia team, chiefly serving as Head of Strategy, Financial Planning, Corporate Development and CEO Office Asia.

After this, he served in various senior roles across the company, including Chief High Net Worth Officer at AXA China Region Insurance, Head of Group Corporate Development, and Head of Claims Operational Excellence – APAC & Europe.
