Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont signed into law on Wednesday a bill that expands workers compensation benefits to health care workers who have suffered a mental or emotional impairment in connection with COVID-19.
S.B. 660, which unanimously passed both the Connecticut Senate and House, modifies current state workers compensation law to allow health care providers treating COVID-19 patients to seek workers compensation if they suffer from a mental injury that did not arise out of a physical injury.
To be eligible, health care providers must have witnessed a COVID-19 death, had physical contact with or treated an individual who died of COVID-19, or witnessed a traumatic physical injury of an individual with COVID-19 on or after March 10, 2020.
