Guy Carpenter hires former Willis Re exec as Asia Pacific president

Guy Carpenter & Co. LLC, the reinsurance brokerage business of Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc., said Monday it has named former Willis Re executive Michael Harden as president of Asia Pacific, effective immediately.
Based in Australia, Mr. Harden will report to Tony Gallagher, CEO of Asia Pacific at Guy Carpenter.
Mr. Harden was most recently president, Asia Pacific, for Willis Re. He joined Willis Re in Australia in 1991 as a director and became CEO in 2006. He also served as CEO of Willis Re Bermuda.
His is the latest in a series of departures from Willis Re in the wake of the scuttled merger of Aon PLC and Willis Towers Watson PLC. Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. announced on Friday that it had agreed to acquire Willis’ treaty reinsurance business.
