AXA XL Re appoints Ian Sawyer as Head of London Casualty, Reinsurance

AXA XL Reinsurance has announced the appointment of Ian Sawyer to the newly expanded role of Head of London Casualty, Reinsurance.

In his new capacity, Sawyer will be responsible for the US and International Casualty Treaty propositions in London and will spearhead the company’s Cyber Reinsurance offering globally.

Marcus Gonzales, Head of London Reinsurance and Head of Casualty & Marine Reinsurance, International, expresses his enthusiasm for Sawyer’s appointment, stating, “Ian’s extensive US Casualty underwriting experience will be of great benefit to our International Casualty business as we continue to work with our trading partners to better understand and assess US exposures contained within their respective portfolios.”

Sawyer brings a wealth of expertise to his new role, leveraging over 37 years of industry experience.

He rejoined AXA XL in 2022 as Head of US Casualty Reinsurance, London Reinsurance after previously serving as Head of Casualty five years prior.

Concurrently, Sawyer has worked at Sirius Group for over six years as Head of Casualty.
