Itasca MGA appoints Gareth John as new CEO and Director

Itasca MGA, a specialist aviation-focused managing general agent (MGA) established in 2023 by Castlelake and Pine Walk, has announced the appointment of Gareth John as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Director.

Operating within the Pine Walk platform, Itasca MGA specialises in underwriting, structuring, and managing risks associated with secured commercial aviation financing. This is done on behalf of The Fidelis Partnership and Itasca Re Limited, a Bermuda-licensed reinsurance company founded by Castlelake.

Kostya Zolotusky, who has served as Itasca MGA’s CEO since its founding, will be retiring at the end of May.

In his new role, John will focus on expanding Itasca MGA’s reach and capacity within the specialised aviation sector. He will also continue to support The Fidelis Partnership’s economic lines of business.

Before his appointment, John was Head of Investment Banking, Coverage & Real Assets UK at Natixis, where he worked for over six years. Prior to that, he served as Head of Transportation Finance Americas at Deutsche Bank.
