Launched 10 years ago, the Business Insurance Innovation Awards recognize innovative new products and services designed for professional risk managers.
Over the past decade, numerous well-known insurers, brokers, third-party administrators, technology providers as well as relative newcomers to the insurance sector have been recognized.
Products and services ranging from risk management textbooks to new insurance policy designs to blockchain placement processes have won Innovation Awards, but a major theme through the first 10 years has been technology.
Tools developed by insurance and technology experts to help risk managers assess and mitigate risks, buy coverage, monitor supply chains and more have all been honored.
This year’s winners, as you can read in the following profiles, again illustrate how the insurance industry is embracing technological advancements to aid the risk management process.
Throughout the past 10 years, a constant feature of the program has been the independent panel of judges that assesses all the entries — some 500 entries in total since the first awards were presented in 2010.
The 2019 Innovation Awards judges were Delany Haj, senior manager, global risk assessments and insurance at Accenture PLC; Luke Figora, senior associate vice president, chief risk and compliance officer at Northwestern University; Jason Mezyk, vice president of risk management at GLP US Management LLC; Jennifer E. Reno, global risk manager at QVC Inc.; Carlos Sintes, claims manager at Fortune Brands Home & Security Inc.; and Amy Templeton, vice president of risk management at Wyndham Destinations Inc.
The winners will be recognized at the Innovation Awards Luncheon in Las Vegas at the Hard Rock Cafe on Sept. 23 ahead of the InsureTech Connect conference.
