Achim Bosch begins tenure as CEO of Deutsche Rück

Achim Bosch has officially taken as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Deutsche Rückversicherung AG (Deutsche Rück) as of July 1st, 2025, from Frank Schaar, who held the role since February 2018, and is retiring.

The Supervisory Board of Deutsche Rück had appointed Bosch as its new CEO on November 18th, 2024. He has been a member of the Board of Executive Directors of the company since early 2019.

Simultaneously, Executive Board member Caren Büning has been appointed as Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO), Deutsche Rück. Meanwhile, life reinsurance and capital investment will continue to be led by Executive Board member, Michael Rohde, as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Bosch joined Deutsche Rück on January 1st, 2019 as CUO, managing the non-life market segment. He began his professional career at Concordia Versicherung in Hanover and went on to serve at General Reinsurance AG in Cologne, where he was appointed to the Executive Board in 2008.

Additionally, Bosch will also take over as Chairman of the Executive Management of DR Swiss in Zurich, Deutsche Rück’s subsidiary, also effective July 1st, 2025. The company stated that the Executive Management will be expanded by one member as the Board of Directors have appointed Dr Stefan Ostermeier as CFO.
