Admiral unveils excess casualty division, names executive

Admiral Insurance Group said Monday it is adding an excess casualty department that will be led by Brian Lineberger, senior vice president, excess.

Admiral, a W.R. Berkley Corp. unit, transacts surplus lines business in California through Los Angeles-based Berkley Managers Insurance Services LLC.

Admiral said the department’s eight initial members have underwriting experience primarily in middle-market business with an average premium of $50,000, with some national market risks as well.

The insurer said it is limiting appointments initially to West Coast wholesale brokers.
