Australian insurers QBE has announced the appointment of Adrian Browne as Director of Underwriting, Casualty for the UK, taking over the role from Anna Bennertt who is retiring at the end of 2025.
Browne has over two decades of experience in insurance, spanning actuarial pricing and underwriting leadership.
He has been part of QBE since joining the company in 2003, having most recently served as Portfolio Manager for UK Casualty, a role he held for four years before his new position.
Through his career at QBE, Browne has held a number of roles increasing in responsibility, including Senior Actuarial Analyst (Pricing) and Senior Casualty Underwriter (UK & Ireland) among others.
He will be based in London and report to Chris Wallace, Executive Director of UK Insurance at QBE Europe, who commented: “With Adrian leading of one of our major portfolios, our broker partners and customers can look forward with confidence.
“Our casualty customers operate in a challenging environment and Adrian’s experience, and solutions-focussed approach is highly regarded across the market.”
Under Anna Bennett’s leadership, the QBE UK Casualty team increased the division’s gross written premiums (GWP) by 43% in recent years through significant regional growth.
It has also broadened its product offering to include QBE’s mental health assessment tool, Minds in Business, as well as introducing QBE Contractors Combined package.
Further accomplishments include solidifying their enduring 35-year alliance with SSR and securing the UK and Ireland capacity renewal with Pen Underwriting.
