AGCS names Papanikolaou as next CEO

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE, part of Allianz SE, has named Petros Papanikolaou as its new CEO, effective Jan. 1, 2024.

He will succeed Joachim Müller, who has decided “to pursue opportunities outside of Allianz” and will step down as CEO of AGCS on Dec. 31, the insurer said Monday.

Mr. Papanikolaou will also head up Allianz Commercial in an expanded role. Allianz SE earlier this year merged its large-corporate and mid-corporate insurance businesses into a single global commercial insurance business that operates as Allianz Commercial.

Mr. Papanikolaou has been Allianz’s CEO of Central Europe since 2015 where he leads national businesses across 11 countries. He joined Allianz in 1998.
