AIG elevates Sabra Purtill to permanent CFO

American International Group Inc. said Tuesday that Sabra Purtill, who has been interim chief financial officer since January, will serve in that post on a permanent basis, effective immediately.

The insurer said Shane Fitzsimons, who has served as CFO, will step down following a medical leave of absence. Mr. Fitzsimons was previously replaced on an interim basis by Mark Lyons but Mr. Lyons was fired after a few weeks in the post for violating the company’s confidentiality obligations.

Ms. Purtill joined AIG from The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. in 2019, and has served in several senior roles.
