AIG names DeCouto chief underwriting officer of Validus Re

American International Group Inc. has named Jesse DeCouto chief underwriting officer of reinsurance unit Validus Re.

Mr. DeCouto, who has been with Validus for more than 15 years, will continue to lead the reinsurer’s specialty and financial lines teams, according to an internal AIG announcement. He is based in Bermuda.

The chief underwriting officer role was previously handled by Chris Schaper, CEO of Validus and head of AIG’s reinsurance business.
