AIG names Keith Walsh as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Global insurer American International Group, Inc. (AIG) has named Keith Walsh as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective October 21st, 2024.

Walsh will be based out of New York and reports to AIG Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Peter Zaffino. He joins the Executive Leadership Team as a member as well.

In his new role, Walsh will lead AIG’s global Finance organisation, succeeding Sabra Purtill, who has served as Chief Financial Officer since January 2023.

Walsh joins the insurer with more than 25 years of finance leadership experience, most recently he served at Marsh McLennan as Chief Financial Officer of Marsh.

From 2012 to 2017, he was Vice President and Head of Investor Relations for Marsh McLennan Companies. Previously, Walsh spent 14 years as an equity research analyst at Citi covering the insurance sector.

Purtill will continue to report to Zaffino working on strategic projects and will act as an advisor to Walsh to enable a smooth transition. She has served in senior leadership roles in financial services and insurance companies, joining AIG in 2019 as Deputy Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer.

She subsequently served as AIG’s Chief Risk Officer from 2021 to 2022 helping the company navigate the pandemic, from April 2022 Purtill served as Chief Investment Officer of Corebridge Financial before returning to AIG in January 2023.
