AIG reorganizes units to form personal insurance segment

American International Group Inc. Tuesday said it was reorganizing its business into three segments, including a new global personal insurance segment.

AIG previously included personal insurance in its North American and international reporting segments. Going forward, the insurer will be organized into North America commercial insurance, international commercial insurance and global personal insurance, the company said in a statement.

London-based Jon Hancock, who heads international, will also head global personal, as executive vice president, CEO, international commercial insurance and global personal insurance, the statement said.

The personal unit brings together global accident and health, personal home and auto, global warranty services and high-net-worth.

Don Bailey will continue to lead North America commercial insurance, AIG said.
