AIG to expand, hire 600 in Atlanta area

American International Group Inc. announced Wednesday it will move to a new innovation hub in the Atlanta area, adding a projected 600 local jobs in the next five years.

AIG’s Alpharetta and Buckhead operations will relocate to a 180,000-square-foot-facility in Brookhaven, Georgia.

The hub will officially open in 2026 and will accommodate more than 1,000 employees, including 400 current employees, AIG said.

The insurer said it is hiring to fill more than 600 roles across underwriting, claims, operations, data engineering and artificial intelligence.

The consolidated Atlanta operation will incubate digital capabilities, test new processes, and collaborate across functions to accelerate innovation to promote growth, AIG said.

“This investment is part of our commitment to continue to enhance our expertise to help our clients and partners navigate complex and emerging risks, while building additional capabilities for the future,” AIG Chairman and CEO Peter Zaffino said in a statement.

Matarie Broom, president, Southeast zone, is the current head of AIG’s Atlanta operation.
