Alera buys Wisconsin-based broker

Alera Group said Tuesday it has acquired The Insurance Center, an Onalaska, Wisconsin-based brokerage.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

With 11 locations in Wisconsin, one in Iowa, and more than 140 employees, The Insurance Center provides commercial property/casualty insurance as well as corporate benefits and personal lines coverages. It launched in 1966 to provide health insurance to dairy farm families in Wisconsin.

The Insurance Center staff will continue to serve clients in their existing roles, Alera said in a statement.

Deerfield, Illinois-based Alera is the 15th largest broker of U.S. business according to the most recent Business Insurance ranking.
