Allianz Commercial names North America liability head

Allianz Commercial announced Wednesday that it has hired former Markel casualty leader Mary Ann Stewart as regional head of liability, North America.

She replaces Carol Laufer, who left the company earlier this year.

Based in Chicago, Ms. Stewart will report to Jenise Klein, chief underwriting officer, North America.

Ms. Stewart will oversee the insurer’s North American liability portfolio, which includes excess casualty, construction liability and environmental coverages throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Ms. Stewart was most recently senior director, global casualty underwriting at Markel. Before that she held various life sciences underwriting roles. She joined Markel in 2018 from CNA.
