AmericanAg adjusts structure and executive leadership team

Global reinsurer AmericanAg has announced the appointment of Meredith Williams as Senior Vice President, Reinsurance Strategy and Placement & Broker Assumed Operations.
The reinsurer has also appointed Pat Larsen as Senior Vice President of its new Client Retro & Broker Assumed Pool Management team. Both appointments are effective March 1, 2025.
The Reinsurance Strategy and Placement & Broker Assumed Operations department, which will be led by Williams, has been recently created and combines several previously separate functions.
According to AmericanAg, this change aims to give the company the ability to facilitate a greater connection between its corporate reinsurance strategy and the underwriting activities in its Broker Assumed area.
In his new role, Williams will be responsible for managing all outward reinsurance placements, monitoring reinsurer counterparty credit risk, advising on new product solutions.
He will also be in charge of overseeing the company’s Broker Assumed segment, which includes domestic programs and international business in Canada, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Williams has extensive experience in reinsurance evaluations and negotiations, primary occurrence and aggregate exposure risk management, and insurance regulation.
Previous roles include Vice President, Reinsurance, for Zurich Financial Services and Partner for Howden Tiger. He joined AmericanAg in 2016 and most recently served as Senior Vice President, Reinsurance Strategy & Placement.
As SVP of Client Retro & Broker Assumed Pool Management, Larsen will collaborate directly with Farm Bureau clients, worldwide retrocessionaire business partners, and other AmericanAg team members to develop retro solutions for the company and its clients.
He will also be responsible for the management of the Broker Assumed pools that the company maintains for select clients.
The executive brings over three decades of reinsurance experience, including roles as Vice President – Reinsurance at Kemper Insurance and Associate Vice President of Reinsurance Operations at Zurich Insurance.
Larsen has been with AmericanAg since 2008 and has held the positions of Vice President of Ceded Reinsurance and most recently, Senior Vice President, Broker Assumed Reinsurance.
