Amwins replaces insurer on trucking programs

Amwins Inc. said Thursday that Lancer Insurance, a division of Core Specialty Insurance Holdings Inc., would replace Protective Insurance Co. as the insurer for two of its trucking programs.

The affected programs are offered through the Charlotte, North Carolina-based specialty intermediary’s Amwins Transportation Underwriters unit. They are its Advantage program, which targets trucking companies with up to 25 trucks, and its Environmental Transportation program for truckers handling hazardous materials and environmental commodities.

Protective had been the programs’ insurer since 2018. Protective was bought by Progressive Corp. in 2021.
