Aon appoints Mike Cane & Yen Chu Choo as Capital Advisory Leaders

Aon enhances its capital advisory capabilities with the appointments of Mike Cane as Capital Advisory leader for the UK and Yen Chu Choo as Capital Advisory leader for Asia Pacific (APAC).

Mike Cane will be based in London and will report to Kelly Superczynski, the Global Head of Capital Advisory.

With 20 years of experience in underwriting, analytics, reinsurance broking, and capital advisory, Cane brings extensive industry knowledge to his new role.

He joins Aon from Gallagher Re where he served as Head of Capital Solutions for over two years. Prior to that, he was Head of Corporate Solutions at Willis Re Specialty and has held senior positions at Lockton Re, Guy Carpenter, and Allianz.

Superczynski expressed enthusiasm for Cane’s appointment, stating, “Mike’s wealth of industry experience, leadership qualities, and participation on several high profile transactions, made him the right fit to drive our UK Capital Advisory proposition forward.”

Yen Chu Choo will remain based in Singapore and will report to George Attard, CEO of Reinsurance Solutions for APAC at Aon.

She joined Aon in 2021 and most recently served as Senior Director within the APAC Capital Advisory team.

Attard commented, “Yen Chu’s appointment represents another step in the rapid development of our global Capital Advisory function. Asia Pacific is a dynamic region with evolving regulatory regimes and capital requirements and it is highly important that Capital Advisory is integrated into our delivery of value to clients.”

In their new roles, Cane and Choo will help clients optimise their capital structures, considering regulatory, ratings, and economic factors. They will work on improving capital efficiency through strategies such as structured reinsurance, capital relief covers, and legacy transactions, which aim to unlock capital and foster growth.

Additionally, Cane and Choo will collaborate with the Capital Advisory’s Ratings Advisory team to guide clients through the ratings process, as well as maintaining and improving their existing ratings. They will also work with Aon’s global Capital Advisory unit to introduce new capital solutions to regional clients, enabling better decision-making and fostering profitable growth.
