Aon names cyber reinsurance executive

Aon PLC Tuesday named Robert O’Connell as global cyber strategy and growth leader, executive managing director, within its Reinsurance Solutions business.

He will lead Aon’s Reinsurance Solutions’ cyber business, including the use of insurance-linked securities and the capital markets, as well as advisory services, analytics, and data and research capabilities.

Mr. O’Connell will be based in New York and report to Randy Stanco, U.S. strategic business leader for Reinsurance Solutions, Aon said in a statement.

Most recently, Mr. O’Connell was CEO of Bermuda-based Cyber Re Limited and Platform Labs.

As part of his move to Aon, Platform Labs has agreed to transfer ownership of its advanced intellectual property portfolio to the broker, the statement said. Mr. O’Connell will work with Aon’s cyber analytics team to integrate the Platform Labs operations, the statement said.
