Applied hires ex-SiriusPoint CEO to head MGA, MGU platform

Applied Underwriters Inc. said Tuesday it has hired former SiriusPoint Ltd. CEO Dan Malloy to head up United Risk, a single platform that combines its managing general agent and managing general underwriter businesses.

Mr. Malloy was named CEO of United Risk, based in New York, the Omaha, Nebraska-based brokerage said.

Applied Underwriters President Jamie Sahara said in a statement the formation of United Risk underlines the company’s position as “the fast-moving ‘go-to’ for development and M&A in underwriting and distribution.”

Prior to his previous role as CEO of SiriusPoint, Mr. Malloy was CEO of Third Point Reinsurance Ltd. Third Point Re merged with Sirius International Insurance Group in 2020.
