Applied Surety hires execs from Crum & Forster

Applied Surety Underwriters Inc. on Thursday said it has named former Crum & Forster Insurance Agency Inc. executives Alfred N. Wright as senior vice president and Ronald B. Diggs Jr. as chief underwriting officer.

Mr. Wright will build out and launch a specialty contract surety segment for target programs falling under a $5 million single, $10 million aggregate range. He was most recently senior vice president at Crum & Forster, heading its surety practice area, a statement said.

Mr. Diggs Jr. will focus on the expansion of Applied Surety Underwriters specialty contract segment. He was most recently chief underwriting officer for Crum & Forster, according to the statement.

They will be based in Philadelphia and report to Josh Betz, president of Applied Surety Underwriters, according to an email from a spokesman.
