Arch names reinsurance chief underwriting officers

Arch Reinsurance Ltd., a division of Arch Capital Group Ltd., on Tuesday named chief underwriting officers for its property and casualty divisions.

Crystal Doughty was named chief underwriting officer, property, and William Soares was named chief underwriting officer, casualty specialty, at the Bermuda-based reinsurer.

Pierre Jal, who was previously global chief underwriting officer for Arch Re, was named chief underwriting officer for Arch Re Europe in Zurich, where he will oversee underwriting strategy across both units, an Arch statement said.

Ms. Doughty joined Arch in 2021 as a senior property underwriter and led several of Arch Re’s insurance-linked securities initiatives, the statement said. Prior to Arch, she spent 15 years at Markel Group Inc.

Mr. Soares joined Arch in 2006 and most recently was head of casualty and specialty.
