In a joint initiative with Lloyd’s focused investment vehicle, Helios Underwriting, Argenta Private Capital Limited (APCL) has launched the 2025 round of the Starter Homes investment vehicles.
“Starter Homes offer investors access to Lloyd’s via a rental fee, without the need to own the underlying capacity, which allows investors to put the majority of their capital to work in underwriting and take advantage of the strong conditions. Renting, rather than buying, in this current market also lowers the required capital commitment for new investors,” APCL explained.
The firm noted that while projections look promising, investment returns are not guaranteed.
The potential returns depend on how well the market and the underlying portfolio perform over a period of at least three years.
Starter Home clients can now invest in a portfolio of syndicates for the 2025 Lloyd’s Year of Account (YoA) thanks to this new partnership with Helios.
This streamlined approach offers investors access to a diversified portfolio of business classes without the risk associated with past performance. Furthermore, investors can add any new syndicates launched in 2025 to their Starter Home portfolio and adjust their investments for 2026 and beyond.
According to the announcement, the diversified nature of the Helios portfolio results in low capital requirements, which begin at 21% in Year One and reach 50% of capacity by Year Three.
The Lloyd’s market conditions are predicted to be favourable for 2025, and the Helios’ Starter Home program will facilitate flexible investment opportunities with a deadline of June 30th or later, subject to Helios agreement.
This means investment timetables can bypass the usual Lloyd’s capacity auction process that finishes in November each year.
Robert Flach, Managing Director of APCL, commented: “Returns at Lloyd’s continue to outperform global trends and most indices. At Argenta, our role is to provide an ever-broadening cohort of investors access to this unique opportunity.
“Our Starter Home initiative with Helios was designed to do just that: broaden access to Lloyd’s to new investors. After the remarkable success of the first round, I am therefore pleased to announce the second iteration of the product.”
Kate Tongue, Director of APCL, said: “Investing at Lloyd’s remains a highly attractive proposition for individuals and comes with defined tax incentives. We are very pleased indeed that we can today announce this next round of Starter Homes, and continue to broaden access to Lloyd’s to a growing numbers of private investors.”
