Aspen Insurance reported on Thursday second-quarter net income of $46.5 million, off 32.6% from $69 million in second-quarter 2024, as net realized and unrealized investment losses, interest expense, and corporate and other expenses all increased.
Net written premiums totaled $715.5 billion, off 11.8% from the year-ago period.
Net investment income dropped 2.4% to $80.5 million.
Aspen’s second-quarter combined ratio improved to 84.3% from 86.7% a year ago.
Capital Markets fee income soared 53.5% to $53 million for the second quarter.
For the six months ended June 30, net income fell 53.9% to $83.3 million.
Net written premiums declined 5.5% to $1.47 billion.
Net investment income fell 1.8% to $156.4 million.
The six-month combined ratio worsened to 90.8% from 87.6% in the year-ago period.
