ASSP names new president, members of board

The American Society of Safety Professionals announced Tuesday that Bradley Giles has been named president of the Park Ridge, Illinois-based association. He succeeds Deborah Roy, whose term ends June 30.

Mr. Giles, principal of New Meadows, Idaho-based safety consulting firm Bradley Giles and Associates LLC, served as ASSP’s director-at-large from 2015-2018, returning to the board of directors in 2019 and taking the role of president-elect in 2020.

Christine Sullivan, Glastonbury, Connecticut-based senior vice president and risk control director at Sompo International Holdings Ltd., is now president-elect. James Thornton, Hampton, Virginia-based former environmental, health & safety director at Huntington Ingalls Industries Inc., will take over Ms. Sullivan’s former position as senior vice president.

The succession of leaders from senior vice president to president-elect to president at ASSP is automatic.

ASSP also named Tim Page-Bottorff, Mesa, Arizona-based senior consultant at SafeStart, division of Electrolab Ltd., and Daniel Snyder, Nixa, Missouri-based owner of Safety Mentor LLC, to directors-at-large of the board.

The remaining board of directors are vice president of finance Linda Tapp, directors-at-large Maribeth Anderson and Thomas Kramer and outgoing public director Anil Mathur.
