Assurant announces leadership changes in Europe and LatAm

US specialty insurer Assurant has announced a number of leadership appointments in Europe and Latin America, including Felipe Sanchez as its new president, Europe, Diego Gomez as president of Assurant Mexico, and Ines Aramburu as president of Assurant Argentina.

In his new position, subject to regulatory approval, Sanchez will have responsibility for Assurant’s European strategy to deliver growth in France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

With more than 30 years of experience, Sanchez brings exceptional leadership, global vision, and proven expertise in driving innovation and business development to his new role.

He firstly joined the company as president, Assurant Mexico. Through his career, he has built high-performing teams across the Caribbean, Central America, and the United States.

Sanchez will be reporting to Federico Bunge, president, International. He is taking over the role from Christian Formby, who after five years as European president, has been appointed president, Specialty Solutions, Global Housing, which includes Manufactured Housing.

Bunge will be reporting to Mike Campbell, president, Global Housing. As the appointment of Sanchez is subject to receipt of regulatory approval, during this transitional period, Formby will retain regulatory responsibility.

Gomez, who has two decades of experience at Assurant in insurance and related service, is taking over the role of president of Assurant Mexico following six years as president of Assurant in Argentina.

Before being appointed country manager for Argentina, the executive developed an impressive career including roles as LatAm COO and Chief Risk Officer, European COO and actuarial manager in Argentina.

He will continue to report into Ricardo Fiuza, president, Latin America.

Taking over the role of president of Assurant Argentina is Ines Aramburu, who most recently served as vice president of Assurant International’s People organization. She will report directly to Ricardo Fiuza.
