AXA XL appoints Arti Rawal as Chief Underwriting Officer for Middle Market, Canada

AXA XL, the re/insurance company, has named Arti Rawal as Chief Underwriting Officer for the Middle Market segment in Canada.

Rawal will head the newly formed Middle Market team in Canada and will report to Matthew Waters, Head of Middle Market for the Americas. She will be based in Toronto.

“Arti’s strong market relations and experience in building teams, developing products and managing a profitable business will be instrumental as we look to build our business in Canada,” added Waters.

Rawal joins AXA XL from Zurich Canada, where she held the position of Vice President, Middle Market, for the Ontario Region.

With over 20 years in the industry, Rawal has gained extensive experience across various roles and lines of business, including construction, excess/surplus, and middle market sectors, with CNA Insurance and Travellers Canada in both the US and Canada.

In her new role, Rawal will collaborate closely with Alex Barker, who was appointed Chief Underwriting Officer for Large Commercial in Canada earlier this year.
