Axa XL names ex-Liberty Mutual exec head of US middle market

Axa XL Insurance, the property/casualty insurance business of France’s Axa SA, on Wednesday named former Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. executive Matthew Waters to the new role of head of U.S. middle market.

Mr. Waters will lead an initiative to build out middle-market client offering and expand Axa XL’s reach in this U.S. commercial insurance market segment.

Based in Boston, Mr. Waters reports to Joe Tocco, Axa XL’s CEO of the Americas.

At Liberty Mutual, Mr. Waters was most recently executive vice president, general manager for Liberty’s middle market business.
