Axis announces new CFO

Bermuda-based Axis Capital Holdings announced Thursday that Enstar Group Chief Financial Officer Matthew Kirk will become its next CFO, effective in March 2026, as part of a planned leadership transition.

He will succeed Peter J. Vogt, who will become a strategic advisor to Axis and depart the company after 2026.

Mr. Kirk will be based in New York and will join Axis in the fourth quarter of this year, initially in an advisory role before becoming CFO. He will report to Axis President and CEO Vince Tizzio and sit on the company’s executive committee.

Mr. Kirk joined Enstar, a run-off insurer, in 2020 and was group treasurer prior to being named CFO in 2023. Before that he held executive leadership roles at Sirius International Insurance Group, including group treasurer and president and managing director of Sirius Investment Advisors.

Bermuda-based Enstar was recently acquired by investment firm Sixth Street.
