Axis hires ILS specialist from Everest

Axis Capital Holdings Ltd. said Tuesday it has recruited Chris Caponigro from rival Everest Re Group Ltd. to be global head of its insurance-linked securities division.
New York-based Mr. Caponigro will oversee the Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer’s third-party capital management business and report to Steve Arora, CEO of Axis Re, according to an Axis statement.
Most recently, Mr. Caponigro was head of business development at Mount Logan Re Ltd., a capital markets unit of Everest Re.
The appointment is effective July 22.
