Axis recruits ILS executives

Axis Capital Holdings Ltd. said Friday it has hired former executives from asset manager Securis Investment Partners LLP and rival Axa XL to its insurance-linked securities unit.

The Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer said Patrick Witteveen will join Axis as head of ILS business development on Feb. 1, 2022. Most recently, he was head of investor relations and business development at Securis.

Kyle Freeman will join Axis immediately as head of ILS structuring, property. Boston-based Mr. Freeman will manage existing investor relationships and capital invested in property catastrophe sidecars, catastrophe bonds, joint ventures and other ILS structures, an Axis statement said.

Most recently, he was head of North America programs pricing at Axa XL, a unit of Axa SA.

Both executives will report to Chris Caponigro, global head of Axis ILS.
