Bill would create skin cancer presumption for park workers

A California bill would create expand a presumption covering skin cancer for certain workers to include fish and wildlife and parks and recreation workers.

A.B. 334, filed Thursday, would amend workers compensation law to presume that Department of Fish and Wildlife and Department of Parks and Recreation workers who acquire skin cancer did so out of the course and scope of their employment. The presumption would continue for workers upon termination, extending three months past the last day of work for each full year of service — not to exceed 60 months.

Currently, the law covers active lifeguards and police officers.
