Bill would mandate comp coverage for adverse vaccine reactions

A Michigan bill introduced last week would classify adverse reactions to the COVID-19 vaccine as a compensable personal injury for employees under workplace vaccination mandates.

H.B. 5352 seeks to amend the state Worker’s Disability Compensation Act of 1969 to make employers that require vaccination as a condition of employment liable for employees’ adverse reactions to the vaccine. The bill defines qualifying adverse reactions as any “undesirable side effect that occurs after a vaccination.”

The bill, introduced Thursday, was referred to the House Committee on Workforce, Trades, and Talent.
