Bishop Street Underwriters buys Michigan-based MGA

Bishop Street Underwriters, a managing general agent platform backed by New York-based private-equity firm RedBird Capital Partners Management LLC, said Thursday it has acquired Conifer Insurance Services, a specialty MGA, from Conifer Holdings Inc.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Conifer, which is based in Troy, Michigan, and has more than 70 employees, operates a portfolio of three programs across specialty lines including small and medium-sized enterprises, hospitality and auto dealers.

The deal marks Bishop Street’s entry into commercial lines.
