BMS appoints former Hannover Re CEO Henchoz as Chairman

BMS Group, an independent specialist insurance and reinsurance broker, has appointed Jean-Jacques Henchoz, who recently left his role as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of large European reinsurer Hannover Re, as Chairman of the Board, effective May 1st, 2025.

Henchoz brings 27 years of experience within the global reinsurance industry to the broker, having served as Chairman and CEO of Hannover Re since 2019.

During this time, the company delivered double-digit earnings growth and solid ROE performance, which led to the doubling of its market capitalisation and an upgrade to the DAX-Index in Germany.

Prior to this, he spent over two decades at rival European reinsurer Swiss Re in various leadership positions, most recently as the CEO of Reinsurance and the Regional President for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Currently, Henchoz serves as a Non-Executive Director on the boards of Brit Group Holdings Limited, and its Lloyd’s managing agent, Brit Syndicates Limited.

For BMS, this appointment follows a period of strong growth, having completed several high-profile acquisitions in the last year.

In December 2024, BMS acquired the UK-domiciled broker, David Roberts & Partners. Earlier in the year, BMS completed the acquisition of specialist UAE broker, Berns Brett Masaood.
