Canopius expands Paul Hackett’s role to Regional Head of Distribution, APAC

Global specialty and property and casualty insurer and reinsurer, Canopius Group, has expanded Paul Hackett’s role to include serving as the Regional Head of Distribution for Asia Pacific (APAC), effective March 1st, 2025.
Hackett currently serves as the Head of Marine for APAC and Middle East & North Africa (MENA), and will now also serve as a member of the APAC Executive Committee.
In the expanded role, he will report to Soon Keen (SK) Lee, APAC and MENA Chief Executive Officer and Sam Harrison, Canopius Group’s Chief Underwriting Officer.
He will be tasked with developing and executing Canopius’ APAC distribution strategy and strengthen broker engagement in the region.
Hackett has over two decades of industry experience, focusing on marine and specialty lines. His deep expertise in the specialty insurance market aims to enhance Canopius’ ability to deliver a comprehensive product offering to clients and broking partners, supporting the company’s continued growth in APAC and MENA.
Since he joined Canopius in 2018, Hackett has been instrumental in driving the success of the firm’s short tail lines of business, overseeing significant growth and successfully scaling up the team.
Hackett currently chairs the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI) Nominating Committee and the Lloyd’s Marine Development Group in Singapore, is an active member of both the IUMI Facts and Figures Committee, and the General Insurance Association of Singapore (GIA) Marine Committee in Singapore.
In the past, Hackett held senior leadership positions at RSA, Catlin, and Aspen where he played a key role in business development and underwriting across global markets.
