CFC expands global presence with opening of first office in Spain

CFC, an insurance provider and specialist in emerging risks and cyber insurance, has announced the opening of its first office in Spain.

Following its expansion into North America and Australia earlier in 2024, the new Madrid office represents another step in CFC’s strategy to grow its global presence.

This move aims to enhance relationships and deliver localised expertise to broker partners in key markets worldwide.

Louise O’Shea, Group CEO, CFC, commented: “We’ve built a strong network of brokers throughout Spain and Southern Europe over the past two decades and are experiencing increasing demand for our products and services.

“To meet that demand and further develop our client base throughout the country, it is the right time to establish boots on the ground. Opening our new office in Madrid also allows us to build a hub from which to grow our presence across Southern Europe and in particular deepen our expertise in cyber and transaction liability in the Spanish, Italian and French markets.”

O’Shea continued: “The M&A market is thriving in the region, particularly in Spain, whilst cyber is only going to become ever more important in the large corporate space. Having a team who are fluent in local languages and able to deliver localised wordings in those languages will help us to build our market share further across the region.”

CFC has named Filippo Cibin as Team Leader for Southern Europe to spearhead the growth of its transaction liability business in the region.

Cibin is an experienced insurance professional with over ten years in underwriting, specialising in a variety of M&A and financial lines insurance products.

His career has spanned Spain, Italy, and Germany, where he worked with major global companies such as DUAL, Tokio Marine HCC, and most recently, Fusion Specialty, where he held the role of partner and director for their European operations.

Joining Cibin is Jorge Nieto Luque, appointed as Senior Underwriter, focusing on transaction liability, tax, and legal contingency insurance solutions across Southern Europe.

With over six years of experience in transaction liability insurance, Luque previously worked as an underwriter at DUAL and as a broker at Marsh, both in Madrid. Prior to his insurance career, Luque was a seasoned business and M&A lawyer, bringing his legal expertise into the industry.

Also joining the team is Oliver Berridge, appointed as Senior Underwriter. Berridge brings nearly a decade of insurance industry experience, specialising in M&A underwriting. Educated in France, he is fluent in French, further enhancing the team’s multilingual capabilities.

Additionally, Ilaria Salvato has joined CFC from Beazley as Cyber European Team Leader. Fluent in Spanish, Italian, and English, Salvato spent the first three years of her career at one of Italy’s top law firms before transitioning to insurance 14 years ago. She now brings her expertise as a cyber underwriting manager to further enhance CFC’s European operations.
