CFC, a specialist insurance provider focused on emerging risks and cyber, has promoted James Burns to Global Head of Cyber and Jason Hart to Managing Director, Proactive & Global Security Services.
In this newly created role, Burns will oversee CFC’s global cyber strategy, underwriting, and sales teams.
Burns has been with CFC for over 12 years and has played a key role in shaping the company’s cyber proposition. For the past two years, he has led CFC’s cyber strategy.
Before joining CFC, he spent four years at Zurich, most recently as Market Underwriter, Professional & Financial Lines.
Burns commented, “Our cyber team has gone from strength to strength over recent years and with CFC’s continued global expansion and new people on the ground in countries across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific, we now have one of the biggest cyber teams in the market.”
He added, “By pulling all our different cyber strands together to create a unified global team, we can ensure a consistent approach across all the territories in which we operate and ensure we continue to deliver the very best products and services to our broker partners and their clients.”
In Hart’s expanded role, CFC’s Proactive and security teams, including Solis, will come under his global leadership. Since joining CFC a year ago as Head of Proactive Cyber, he has led the company’s cyber threat analysis, vulnerability, and threat detection services.
Hart has deep expertise in cyber security with over two decades of experience in creating and developing information security offerings and services.
He currently holds roles at Virtual Science AI, SteelEye, and Forbes Technology Council. Before CFC, he served as Chief Technology Officer at firms including Rapid7, Trustonic, and Gemalto. He also founded CRYPTOCard, a cloud-based authentication platform, and WhiteHat Security, one of the UK’s first ethical hacking companies.
Hart said, “Our proactive cyber and security teams in the UK, US and Australia have played an enormous role in our promise to protect our cyber clients, preventing cyber incidents from occurring or minimising the impact of those that do.
“There is enormous potential in the cross-geographical expertise in these teams and creating a truly global operating model will enable greater transparency, collaboration and cross-pollination of knowledge and ideas, which we believe is critical to CFC’s continued growth.”
Louise O’Shea, CFC’s Group Chief Executive Officer, stated, “CFC is in an exciting phase of growth, with new products and services delivered across an expanding global presence, and naturally our structure is evolving.
“We have an incredibly talented team and James and Jason are both exceptional leaders. It is brilliant to see them continuing to develop their careers at CFC. I have no doubt that they, together with their teams, will go from strength to strength.”
