Chaucer hires Lloyd’s Iryna Chekanava as Senior Innovation Underwriter

Global specialty re/insurance group Chaucer has hired Iryna Chekanava as a Senior Innovation Underwriter, who joins from Lloyd’s, where she was the senior manager for innovation growth and partnership at the Lloyd’s Lab.
In her new role, Chekanava is expected to play a critical role in further developing Chaucer’s work in innovation.
From what we understand, this will primarily be centred around the areas of weather risk, climate change, intangibles and parametric products, amongst others too. The role will also see Chekanava collaborate with Tom Graham, Head of Partnerships and Innovation and Nasra Ahmed, Senior Innovation Manger.
Overall, Chekanava brings over a decade of expertise in business growth and product development, having previously specialised in supporting insurance technology initiatives.
Before she joined Lloyds, Chekanava was an Open Innovation Fellow at London & Partners, the inward investment agency and worked for InsurTech businesses such as Envelop Risk, InsTech and Blocksure.
In addition, Chekanava began her career in the industry at technology focused management consultancy, Capgemini.

In related news, Chaucer recently announced the appointment of industry veteran Angus Milgate as Head of Distribution, bringing over 30 years of industry experience to his new role.
