Chubb announces surety promotions

Chubb Ltd. announced Monday it promoted Steve Haney to president and chief underwriting officer of Global Surety.

Mr. Haney previously was vice president, Chubb Group and division president of North America Surety and chief underwriting officer of Global Surety.

He will be succeeded by Teresa Black, executive vice president and chief operating officer of North America surety, who has been promoted to division president of North America Surety.

In his new role, Mr. Haney will lead Chubb’s global surety business. He will report to Juan Luis Ortega, executive vice president, Chubb Group and president of North America Insurance, and Paul McNamee, executive vice president, Chubb Group and president of Overseas General Insurance.

In her new role, Ms. Black will have executive oversight and profit and loss responsibility in North America. She will report to both Mr. Haney and Scott Meyer, senior vice president, Chubb Group and chief operating officer of North America Insurance.

Mr. Haney joined the company in 1997 as a surety underwriter and has served in positions of increasing responsibility.

Ms. Black was a 2015 Business Insurance Women to Watch honoree.
