The Connecticut Business and Industry Association on Wednesday praised Gov. Ned Lamont’s approval of a budget bill that included a reversal of a controversial state Supreme Court ruling from March.
The high court in Gardner v. Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services effectively gave administrative law judges the discretion to award an injured worker ongoing temporary partial incapacity benefits even after reaching maximum medical improvement.
Hartford-based CBIA claimed the ruling would “destabilize” the industry, hiking workers compensation costs as much as 265%, based on actuarial assessments.
